If you've been with us for a while, you'll know that the Manumit Prize was created to celebrate something we feel is often overlooked: the spirit of adventure.
While adventure writing often focuses on distant mountains, deserts and oceans, we want to inspire our community to see the incredible opportunities that can be found on our doorstep.
The Manumit Prize exists to recognise and reward the best stories of adventure taking place across Britain and Ireland. Stories that inspire exploration, curiosity and a deeper connection to these islands.
Adharanand Finn is one of the most respected voices in endurance sport and adventure storytelling. His books, including Running with the Kenyansand The Rise of the Ultra Runners, have inspired countless people to push their limits and rethink what adventure can look like. His new forthcoming book The Running Pilgrim will be about a 1,400-mile run around Ireland he undertook in 2024.
His experience as both a participant and storyteller makes him a fantastic addition to the panel.
The winner of the Manumit Prize will receive £1,000 alongside recognition from a panel of leading voices in adventure and outdoor culture.
Entries are now open, and we encourage anyone with a compelling story of adventure in Britain or Ireland to submit their work (submit your entry here!).
Adventure doesn't have to be far away. Sometimes it's right on your doorstep.
